Duplicating forend
Anybody know someone who can duplicate this forend.
The external profile is not the problem, it is drilling the hole right through

F.N. A5 Police, by any chance?
I have see dedicated woodworking tools for sale that would allow the hole to be drilled.
Any more photos of the forend?
Dimensions?
(info. only needed for A5 Police model)

Total length 19.5 inchessaddler wrote:F.N. A5 Police, by any chance?

Hole is 1 inch for 12.5 inches then the opened end increases to 1 inch and 3/8
Cant use wood working tolls because of length - to much flex on the forester bit and extension.
Need metal working tools, then duplicator for exterior profile
Re: Duplicating forend
What about a wood lathe to bore the holes, THEN do the external profile work?wildrover77 wrote:Total length 19.5 inchessaddler wrote:F.N. A5 Police, by any chance?

That way you'd have the central holes to use on a dedicated mandrel
Be interested in more info as I plan to make up an F.N. A5 Police replica at some point

Re: Duplicating forend
The lathe is not the problem the problem is eliminating flex on the boring shaft.
I am planning to get several made, as it is starting to look quite expensive to get it reproduced.
Probably looking at cnc machining. Getting several made an selling the spares will help fund it.
Let me know if you want to get involved.
The external profile is easy it is very simple, the issue is drilling the holes.
