A french friend needed to buy temporarily "a rifle" to hold onto a ticket slot due to a stupid rule of slot validity . Anyway he got a spanish FR8 just cos it was available & dirt cheap but ended up loving it and he kept it. I did not shot it but I remembered it had a funky rear-sight.
Most stocks seem to have gone to Germany when they were decomissioned so I dont know how easily available they are in the UK ??

Yes as Neil said about the Envoy as well! I know my club has one but not sure they will sell it. Also I need to have a good look at the barrel as it's not been shot in while!

As you talked about .308 Win, I just though I'd point out that the original rifle (so not re-barreled later for TR shooting) was designed for a 7.62 NATO cartridge with a 145 gn bullet; and some say that putting home loads stoked up for 1000 yards with 155 SMKs and Scenars may not be ideal...

...so if you do get one, it may be worth getting it checked (including head-space) for the ammo you intend to use by a gunsmith...

...that said, it's no reason not to get one...there a true classic tongueout

I'll take a look. Not sure what to go for at the moment. I do like the service rifles but it really means I would stuck to a max if 600yards. That means I've just got the Tikka for 900 and 1000

I didn't know that so I'll find out a bit more about it.

It does look in very good condition though I must say.

I've did see a Dragunov which I thought would be fun out to 900 yards but don't go much on the price!!
Also it's chambered in 308! Just to rich for me!

No time to re-educate. The Carcano has been around since the 1890's and was finally retired by the Italian State Police around 1981 and also used during the Libyan Civil War - it'll do me.

No time to re-educate. The Carcano has been around since the 1890's and was finally retired by the Italian State Police around 1981 and also used during the Libyan Civil War - it'll do me.

No need - the FR-8 is chambered for 7.62x51.
