Challenging unsafe behaviour
Clay shooting today with my daughter I felt compelled to challenge the following behaviour ..
Couple of lads were putting the cartridges in the gun and closing it before walking to the cage .. I know this is only a minor issue but I was taught that if you never break the rules nobody ever gets shot ...
Would you have challenged them ???

Yep
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Re: Challenging unsafe behaviour
I'll tend to ask anyone with a closed gun to open it if not on the firing point. If I saw someone loading their gun outside the cage, I'd be making my views very plain. It would not be acceptable behaviour at my very informal club, and would probably lead to someone being asked to depart if it occurred a second time.
Careful now/that sort of thing
Re: Challenging unsafe behaviour
As above. I don't do much clay shooting but even I know you don't, ever, load the gun away from the firing line.
Re: Challenging unsafe behaviour
Most definitely would have a quiet word in their ear, and then have a word with the organisers, as they should be made aware of such conduct.

Gentle talk first , repeat offence read them their fortune in an animated manner !
Re: Challenging unsafe behaviour
Yes. As above. Quiet word at first and if repeated they should be asked to leave.
