Spare barrel in a rifle slot?

#1 Post by paxtond »

Im looking at a rifles that has a spare 6.5 barrel with it.

I have a slot for the rifle and I also have a spare 6.5mm slot, can I put a spare barrel in a rifle slot or will I need to have the slot changed to a spare barrel slot?

Thanks

The barrel counts as a firearm in it's own right. So a 6.5 slot is filled by the spare barrel . Simples clapclap

You are wrong. A spare barrel is exactly that, a spare barrel. You will need to get your FAC varied for a spare barrel. You can not put it a 'rifle' slot.

..and the spare does not go against your ultimate holding. In theory you could have two rifles and 22 barrels yet only be deemed to be holding two rifles plus spares.

This does have some significance. When counting firearms for the purposes of the numerical boundaries in the Security guidance, it is explicitly stated that spare barrels, moderators etc do not count toward the totals.

Like the idea but Gwent don't see it that way or at least they didn't when I had firearms with numerous barrels and counted each barrel as a firearm.

Not sure of it makes a difference but the rifle is .308 but has a spare 6.5x284 barrel.

I hope I can stick it on a rifle slot as I don't have time to be sending it back for variation.

You will need one of the barrels to be 'a spare barrel'. You will have to put in a variation. You cannot put a spare barrel in a rifle slot.

You will need a specific slot for the barrel, it is not a rifle so cannot be entered against it, you have no authority on your certificate to hold the barrel at present. A variation will be needed.
