I saw M49 Persian "mauser" for sale on on gunstar. It is much more un-usual than the 98/29.

It does look a petite carbine, bet it kicks like a mule. I have just filled up my 7.92 slot with a nice G98 and it is a very nice and smooth action.

Theres a 30-06 Columbian Mauser at Minsterley at the moment, its a bit of an animal but i would say the MN M44 carbine has a bigger muzzle flash :)

Yes the K98K (WW2 era). This could be called the modernised carbine version of the original K98, but actually I believe there was a carbine version of the WW1 era K98 that was issued to cavalry and artillery units. This would be very similar with the way that the British issued SMLE carbines to certain non infantry troops.

Re- Charlotte & Chapuis,

The 98/29 which was made in Czechoslovakia is quite common. The M49 was made under licence on Skoda machinery in Iran . The one for sell is either a M49 or a short 98/29 which are both rarer Mdls than the standart infantry length. I think the most obvious difference between them is the bolt straight for the short 98/29 and curved for the M49 . I can't tell from the seller's picture. I think you can also tell from the writing on the side of the receiver but my Farsi is a little rusty
