Nationel bodies

#1 Post by Alpha1 »

Were as all the information gone about shooting organisations the only information in there is regarding the NRA a organisation I would not support if my FAC relied on it. Whats going on have I missed some thing or are we being censored I can remember not to long ago when FULL BORE UK was involved in some not very pleasant business with the NRA so have we rolled over to them.
Were is the BASC info etc that was there previously.

They are here Dave as the threads became a bit moribund and we had to lock some.

I suppose moving them reflects the fact that the national bodies are old news

Why do you think that the NRA would not support you if you had problems with your FAC? If you are an NRA member, the NRA is the only organisation that will help you.

I don't think that is what Dave is saying, I read it more along the lines of the NRA is the last organisation he would ever think of joining.

But no doubt he will clarify this for us when next he logs on.

For the record I am absolutely sure that the NRA would try its best to help any member with FAC difficulties. As would BASC, Shooters Rights along with the plethora of other sundry "representative" bodies that we shooters can choose to be members of.

I wouldn't have relied too heavily on the NRA for assistance in the past but I believe that in recent years there are some real good people involved who would genuinely try to help if they could.

What does really annoy me though is shooters who never ever join any shooting association or organisation and then come looking for help and assistance when things go wrong. It may be a bit uncharitable of me but I think of these as parasites sponging off the affiliation fees of the rest of us. My reaction would be "sorry mate but your on your own".

I think it is vitally important that all shooters regardless of what form of shooting you are involved with belong to at least one shooting organisation. The choice is yours but you should support at least one and then you can rely upon them to support and assist you if the need ever arises.

No censorship as far as I know. The Viking does receive periodic threats of legal action regarding posts on the forum and I seem to remember a couple were from NRA related employees however that is not a reflection of the organisation as a whole and was a long while ago. As Adam says, the information is all there if you have a hunt for it.

They sure as Hell didn't support us when we lost our semi-auto rifles after Hungerford, all we got was a thunderous silence.

Didn't we deal with this one on another thread today?

There is noone there in any position of authority or any member of staff who was there back then. The majority of those running the NRA back then are deceased. It is a different organisation now.

However I might be able to find out something from someone about exactly what was happening behind the scenes back then but it might take me some time and they might not know but I will try.
