Shooting in France - Changes to allowed calibres

Found this on the TSD forum posted by French David

From Saturday (7th September 2013) the calibre than you can not use are : 50bmg, 14.5x114, 223, 7.62x39, 5.45x39 and some calibre under authorisation as: 45acp and 9mm para.

All the other one are allowed.

So the 308, 30.06, 303 etc, you can use them for stalking and driven boar in France.

The smallest calibre allowed for the hunt is still the 222. For the semi automatic rifle it's still the same: maximum 3 shot (2 in mag and 1 in chamber). and still no moderator on any rifle.

45acp and 9mm para have always been subject to authorisation - no change

That's good news! Mind you, I'm not sure I'd want to take my rifle out for driven boar. I'd have to get a second one for that.

Indeed it's not, it was a round made in the 70's for the AK-74 assault rifle, now largely replaced by the 7.62x39

you are confused with the 5.45x39, a Warsaw pact calibre, which replaced the 7,62x39 (ie: ak47 vs ak74)...

The 223R, civilian appelation, is similar to the 5.56x45, Nato one but not the same. ie : the AR15/M4 on my French FAC is recorded as 223R,

5.45x39 is one of the calibres that was mentioned in the OP as was 223.

When I say "confused"2 is because 5,56x45 has never been a round made in the 70's for the AK-74 as claimed by Phaedra ...

But at the end of the day , what really matters is that licenced French shooters can still own and shoot 50bmg, 14.5x114, 223R, 7.62x39, 5.45x39 etc ... and of course that I can keep my beloved SA SDI M4

That was my mistake Froggy, I mis-read your post and thought you'd said 5.45x39 when you said 5.56x45
