http://www.countryside-alliance.org/ca/ ... his-autumnThe Countryside Alliance has welcomed a clarification from the Home Office received today (6 September) that there will be no immediate rise in firearms licensing fees.
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) had recommended that certificate fees for shotgun and firearms certificates should almost double in price, from £50 currently to £94 in October and up to £109 by 2015.
And what did ACPO's official firearms rep have to say? Via Twitter: "Disappointed 2 hear gun licensing fees are not to increase. Last increase 2001. Cost of licence just £50 / 5yrs 26% of real cost 2 taxpayer"
I tweeted back at him that if he's so worried about costs to the public purse the whole licensing system should be privatised instead.
