If you're covered by Herts or Cumbria police, now is a good time to send snottograms to your firearms licensing departments asking exactly how much info they've disclosed through this arrangement.Does the RSPCA have your gun licence or car registration? NOBODY knows
When are cops not subject to FOI? When they're animal cops
No checks are carried out on what the Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) does with confidential records it receives from police databases, including information on people's vehicles and gun licences, the Register has learned.
Precise details of the Information Sharing Agreements (ISAs) between the RSCPA and police forces are now coming to light, thanks to FOI requests.
The charity's ISA with Cumbria Police (PDF, 6.8MB) allows them to request access to vehicle information - and specifically includes "information held on the National Firearms Licensing Management System" (page 7)...

Surprised nobody's seemingly bothered about a private organisation reading FAC/SGC details direct off the police system - maybe I shouldn't have put a question mark on the post title?

I've just logged on specially to see your link!
Am now considering a complaint to the ICO.
I may make an FOI request to the RSPCA first and I know that will be rejected - and then go to the ICO with the complaint on the basis that the police had illegally shared information with the Bunny Huggers who then refuse to disclose what they have or what they do with it.

it stinks. as so many things do nowadays - like detaining journalists for 9 hours with no reason, and we're doing that, too. Time to leave...

Also ask what info they have on you under the Data Protection Act..I may make an FOI request to the RSPCA first and I know that will be rejected -
Mr Logic, it's happening everywhere - there's no cure for it that can be printed online nowadays.

The difference is that if I put something online I choose to share it - the government is after things that I haven't chosen to share without good reason.
Re: Does the RSPCA have your car reg or FAC/SGC details?
I've been quietly pursuing this one to find out exactly what private information's gone adrift through what I believe to be an unlawful data-sharing agreement. Herts Police replied to me denying that they shared any data - on the grounds that they didn't keep any records of what data had left their hands! Cue me swiftly pointing out that their own agreement with the RSPCA states in black and white that they must keep records of any data handed over to the "charity" ... Herts wrote back saying they were now undertaking "further enquiries". (read: "oops, you weren't meant to know that and you've just blown our cover")
I've yet to get a response from Cumbria.
