We have just read that too. Curious isn't it, but not high quality reporting on the part of the BBC? Maybe he fell overboard with Dr Diesel....

If they are one and the same then tracing Maxim should be easy enough and then it is either a myth or fact.

QI but I would have thought with modern day forensic techniques, it would be easy to compare the two photos for facial features. Also tracing relatives and DNA testing would surely clinch it.christel wrote:http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23709471

Maxim's old workshop is round the corner from where I work. It's just another office now - if the blue plaque wasn't there, you wouldn't know it from any other building.
