I was asked a question tonight by a friend at the gun club which I did not know the answer to so I said I will try to find out for him.
He has a 38/357 under leaver that He wants to use for vermin control and possibly roe deer on His own farm is it just a case of asking for a variation for vermin and deer and humane dispatch?

Re: 38/357 for vermin?
I have fox and vermin for my 357 Winchester. I had to explain it was for short range fox control - Grampian was happy with my reasoning. If your mate is in Scotland, I doubt he'll get Roe authorised as it might not meet the minimum velocity requirement of 2450 fps.shotgun sam wrote:I was asked a question tonight by a friend at the gun club which I did not know the answer to so I said I will try to find out for him.

He really only wants it to shoot foxes and kill wounded deer.

Give it a go - nothing to lose by asking.

Re: 38/357 for vermin?
Shouldn't be a problem, I know of a couple of keepers who have .357 carbines on for vermin/fox control. If he has it on ticket for such he would also be able to use it to alleviate suffering in a deer such as following a RTC though he should consider getting it put on for despatch if he regularly attends such incidents.
