A few questions on getting a shotgun certificate.

I'm putting in for another variation soon and am thinking of getting a shotgun certificate. Would this be a separate certificate as I'm 8 months into my FAC? So costing £50/£60?

How does buying and selling shotguns work? Is it like on an FAC where you have slots to buy particular calibres?

Cheapest option would be a coterminous application where your FAC and SGC are granted/renewed at the same time, as your FAC is only 8 months old have a word with your FEO and see what he says, I did mine the other way round and had about a year left on my SGC when I applied, both now run together.

Unlike an FAC the SGC doesn't have "slots", you can buy whatever you want in the way of section 2 guns (2+1 max capacity) in whatever gauge you like, 410, 20, 12, 10 etc. etc. then just notify plod when you buy or sell one.

Although (unlike the FAC) there is no requirement to provide a "good reason" to have an SGC (they have to grant one unless they can show a reason why you shouldn't have one) they will ask what you want it for anyway, clay pigeon or pest control/wild fowling etc.

a shotgun certificate enables you to buy a shotgun(s), as many as you have cabinet space for. Unlike an FAC you do not need to ask for a specific calibre.
As your FLO regarding getting a conterminous certificate

I'm applying for my fac (I already have a sgc) just had a visit from the FLO, he said that when my sgc is due for renewal next year that I should make them coterminous then ...I would then get 4yrs entitlement on the sgc not 5 ... Hope that makes sense
