In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

The copper oughtn't to react with the stainless, ooman. The grease carrying it might get a bit fried but the copper itself won't present a problem unless you sustain the heat and get the whole assembly incandescent. You don't plan that, do you ?

Thanks for the other useful replies ..especially pe4king’s… At least you’ll get a DSO for that Kev!
SHC 100 aviation grease. The real stuff is manufactured by Mobil (exxon) but all the major companies make a similar product. Incredible stuff, stable and non-reactive. You wouldn't believe how much we go through in RollsRoyce on a daily basis. Mind you, we did have well lubricated motors. ;)
