Modern rifles have been used most years since 1986, when Geoff Cox was, I believe, the first winner to use a SwIng.
I seem to remember the last few winners had quite modest rifles (one was a paramount), with fairly traditional wooden stocks (one with foam taped to it as a cheek-piece) and one winner using an old 2 point sling...
...where as this year the rifle is what I would consider very modern in comparison...and how long is that barrel!?
Jim Corbetts barrel is a 35" Border fitted to a Barnard Action in a cast aluminium stock. As long as the all up weight is less than 6.5kgs you can have a barrel as long as you like.
