Help - aluminum forestock rail

#1 Post by Scotsgun »

Folks,

The rail underneath the forestock on my Steyr SSG69 is burst. It's the same as the one used on the bottom of the Anschuts target rifles. It's an aluminum dovetail rail used to mount the bipod, etc. - not the military type.

Does anyone know where I can source one?

Thanks

Doh. That's exactly the type of important information you forget when sitting in the garden, drinking beer and smoking cigars.

It's approx 230 x 18 mm

My bit is 190,0mm ish long x 22,0mm wide so it sounds like yours is an oddball size, or maybe mine is....

The sides would soon machine down but that does not make up for lack of length, sounds to me like a 'project' for your machine shop tongueout

Damn. I was hoping to use it in a competition, in early August.

Note to self : don't let hamfisted twats near your rifles!

I can soon machine 2,0mm off either side of the bit I do have and post it up if that helps? It will be short by a bit however if it gets you out of the mire you are very welcome!

I appreciate the offer, mate. However it will bug me if I only do a partial fix.

Do you know where I can source the rail in longer lengths? As Vince suggested, Mik at Dolphin has it, also John at HPS should have some in stock.

Mik's comes in a 15 inch length or thereabouts.
