I was under the impression I had 5 years to fill my slots or they will be [questioned|removed]. It seems unreasonable to expect a new FAC holder to fill all their slots < 2-5 years IMO.

Warwickshire are quite happy that we have some very old open slots. The rifles we are looking for a rare and thus Mr Plod was happy for us to keep slots open in readiness for the day when, hopefully, what we want to collect comes onto the market. That notwithstanding, the general principle ought to be that the slot does not expire as guidance states that the aim is not to reduce the number of firearms owned...

When I first applied and asked the FEO what I should apply for as a member of a multi discipline club, he told me the exact opposite.... he told me to apply for everything that I thought I might want within the next 5 years and that would avoid me having to pay for variations as I went along!Mikaveli wrote:A guy who has the same FEO as me just put in his application. When he mentioned that his slots were his "5 year purchase plan" he was told "it doesn't work like that" and if he doesn't use them after "a while" he'll lose them.

It really does depend upon the particular forces interpretation. When in Essex, I had an open slot for ages. Everytime I saved up for the AW, the wife would find a better use (to her) for the funds. However, now in Scotland, I've seen slots being taken back after only a year or so.
However I really wouldn't bother about it. We're all human and I'm sure some in the licensing office have been in your situation. I'd write them a letter notifying them that you're expecting and now intend to continue with your acquisitions, after the birth and the initial large purchases.

At least you don't have to change your own target anymore!

You have to wait for a while to find out if they will do that. And they will need to be large and sturdy to do Century targets.HALODIN wrote:At least you don't have to change your own target anymore!
Careful now/that sort of thing
