FAC collected today from the force HQ - very quick, polite and helpful staff (new one there).
I have my two variations but not the AOLQ I asked for - apparently the 3 local forces are meeting to discuss its' introduction following the ACPO 'advice' to allow this for live quarry shooting. The meeting is August and the nice lady asked me to resubmit my FAC for this amendment after that meeting.
Marks out of ten on service and attitude = 10 - well done. party2

All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

Fancied another Mauser so put in for an additional 7.92x57. Turned down as I already had one.

Not as daft as I look so sent back variation request for 8x57.

Granted!

I have 3x 303's on my license, I always make a point of writing a short note explaining why i want another rifle just to add weight to my request. For example if tomorrow I decided that I wanted another 303, I would say that I am interested in them (re my other 303 rifles) and I am a collector for this series of firearms. So far I haven't had any issues with been granted another gun of the same caliber. Beyond looks/ history etc a mauser, enfield, MAS, springfield and so on... all do exactly the same thing so it seems funny that they would be funny of you having 4 of the same caliber as opposed to say 4 of a different caliber

I was told as long as you have a place to use it and space to store it then You can have what you like, just keep it under 15 otherwise we need to talk about your home security

That's how it *should* be, although it often isn't! I had to fully justify why I wanted two .22 slots, and wasn't allowed a 2nd S1 shotgun slot. Even though the FEO said my security was fine for up to 10 guns.

A common approach across the firearms licensing teams would be nice. I called my FEO today regarding an RFD increase in holdings and he told me to get it in the post addressed to him and he would update it and return it promptly. This usually means I get it back in 48 hours.

The Firearms Security Handbook states in 2.21 and 2.24, "It must be stressed, however, that it is not enough to base an assessment on the number of firearms alone – all factors mentioned should be taken into account."
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
