I'm gong to put in for a barrel only, get a barrel change kit made up for my existing rifle and swap it out as and when I do a Bisley trip (which won't be very often). Common sense says get a "factory replacement / off the shelf" .308 Rem 700 barrel for the amount of use it's going to get. But I guess I might get one reamed/fitted specially by a proper custom builder.20series wrote:What sort of budget are you looking at??

I would also consider the requirements for any future comp shooting you may want to do.
Although with the ability to switch barrels it sounds ideal.
There are much better rounds than .308 for longer range, but the choice of components is a big draw.
If you are only going to compete with yourself and the elements though, do what's best.
I was looking at a Grendel during the phoenix, that's an interesting little round. One of the guys from Low Mill very kindly gave me a case for the collection
