If we were, hypothetically speaking, considering buying one or more of these fine lead chuckers, what would we ask Mr Plod for ? A variation for a bolt action rifle, or a straight pull ?

You'd ask for a rifle.

Then upon acquisition you would enter it as a bolt action rifle.

Hi Leigh, they do seem very reasonable, I don't understand what the very poor pictures on the site are about though, they really don't help sell the rifles do they! ;)

Are you up for the "big push" at Severnside mid May my good man?

Forgot to say, I am picking up 1917 SMLE from (Mr Enfield) Richard Stork on Thursday, so we can hopefully shoot our Antipodean Enfields together!

Hi Spinrad303

A couple of minor points:
1. Breacher mentioned TRADE PRICE
2. The amount had a Dollar symbol ($) in front of the 100 - not a Pound symbol (£) = so chances are the armoury was NOT in the UK

Once you are set up as an RFD & sort out the importation documents then you'll have a chance to pay $100 ea.
The importation costs = good luck

Salut ,

The SVT is a wonderfull toy !! I shot side by side a SVT 40 and a Garand M1. The M1 has probably a slight edge with better sights but if I am honnest I prefered shooting with the SVT . I am not even talking about the price tags there...

Now why on eath a European man buy SVTs in the US ? The Eastern European arsenals are full to the brim with SVT's . Now, if whole sale is not your game, they are quite easy to find on the continent.

A semi-auto SVT40 + 440 rounds of surplus ammo = €uro 595 / ~ £ 495

War-time near new Semi-auto SVT40 €uro 500 / ~ £ 415

The two above are offered for sale in France by professionals, and I mean real professionals, ie : qualified gunsmiths that check & inspect all the weapons and still make manage to make a profit to live on.

This one, also in France was a straight pull, rechambered in 30/284 (to avoid using a FAC slot). As far as I know it legal and not problem to get it back in the UK ? With a sale price of £ 475 .

When I see the UK prices, I unfortunatly fell the British shooter is very often viewed as some kind of milk cow or golden goose to be used and abused ... :bad: :bad: :bad:
