Re: Cast loads couple questions.
If the spuds are made to fit the Lee expander die body, as previously stated, then they should be even easier to make as they won't need threading.

I suspect, although I haven't had it done, that the Lyman Multi-Expand powder through die bodies or the Lee powder through expander die would serve as well for easier to machine spuds.

Typical: science spends millions of pounds building the large Hard-on Collider and it turns out Alpha already has a universe expander in his shed..

Anyone got a photo of these spuds? I have a lathe and may be able to tackle them.
What material are they usually made of?

Re: Cast loads couple questions.
Have you seen the previous posts.
Steel of some form just needs to be harder than brass.
Do you have a Lee neck expander die, if so then the spuds would be the same only the tapered flared point would be replaced with a suitably specified spud as per the drawings posted previously.

Re: Cast loads couple questions.
I've seen the pics yeah.
I don't have the expander die but might be able to get hold of one.
What's a reasonable price for the spuds?
I'll need to do some testing, not sure on the tolerances of the lathe at the minute as it's just getting set up.

This is what one looks like made to fit the Lee expander die. You could make it out of mild steel
