A £200 ticket
Plod wants you to pay more for a ticket. Marvelous.

Re: A £200 ticket
I will happily pay £200 for a 15-year ticket.
Volume of admin reduced by a factor of three at a stroke. Income per shooter up 33%. FEOs freed up to concentrate properly on the dodgy cases. Happy shooters, happy FEOs. Win all round.

Re: A £200 ticket
is this Andy Marsh, Chief Constable of Hampshire Police, who recently apologised for their abysmal performance and unnecessary delays in offering a service?
Re: A £200 ticket
Why don't they do something logical? Namely (I believe BASC and the NRA recommended this) and do away with the variations. You have a Section 1 permit, therefore you can buy what rifles you want as long as you can store them.
Re: A £200 ticket
We all know what'll happen - an FAC will go up to £200 and its duration will be cut to two or three years before renewal.
Adminstrative action is always more effective than direct action, as I expect the police will know well.

Re: A £200 ticket
Why does it have to be self funding? Your NHS treatment isn't, your childs education isn't, your benefits aren't if you're ever on the dole.
Not starting a rant, just saying, plus shooters are already paying for the police through council tax each year anyway.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

And just what exactly will we be getting in return for this proposed above inflation increase?
Fully trained, competent and unbiased FEO's?
A reasonable turnaround in applications and renewals?
A properly managed and updated national database?
A national standard of service delivery from all forces?
Will we ####!

Re: A £200 ticket
So ACPO has said....? So what? ACPO is a private limited company with an £18million a year turn over. It's a non-elected, "boys club", profiteering from their public appointments.Shotgun and firearms owners should pay significantly more for licenses to meet a huge funding gap in managing the gun control scheme, the association of chief police officers has said.
If there's a shortfall in the funding, manage it within the constraints given you. That's your job.....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
