Deer Stalking… reliable word of mouth recommendation from someone you know has undertaken such stalking being offered by a specific syndicate is best. Like other walks of life, stalking has its scammers. E.G., make sure there is deer, of the species sought, on the land being made available; that appropriate insurance is in place; that there is recourse for recompense if it all goes wrong. In addition, obtain and understand terms and conditions; consider the implications of allowing a syndicate leader to be a FAC mentor; make sure ‘coaches’ are suitably qualified; consider the quality of deer management, the construction & execution of a shooting plan and safety; determine if the land is over-shot.
If in doubt, contact BASC or similar.

But I've been chomping at the bit (as my old man would say) to go down to Florida and hunt Pythons.
I figure that a 20 gauge (that's rated for steel shot if there are any that is) would be perfect for taking care of the animals in wetland habitats and one of my .410's with lead shot would be perfect for dry land.
Because most often than not the shots would be at close ranges and would be headshots for the most part.
I'm pretty good at taking care of the native species (been doing so all of my life) but ever since I was a kid I've always wanted to go after constrictors.
But if I ever get the chance I know this is what my reaction would be if I were to bag one.... party2
Because as odd as this might sound Snake killing is something I love to do, not from a sportsmanship or fair chase aspect...but because I get great joy from killing them.
I figure it this way.
Some like to hunt deer, others Elk and hogs....My game of choice are snakes and invasive constrictor species in general.

The way I look at it - Boa constrictors are an introduced species and therefore a threat to the balance of the natural ecosystem, so crack on!
Not something I would relish, but each to their own.

I'm spooked of native snakes (because most of the local species I've grown up with cause severe damage from a single bite) and while the constrictors could crush a person. I love the idea of going through the swamps and marshes on an airboat, shotgun in hand. Plus the environment is sort of like south-east Asia so in a way it would be kind of like a Mini-Vietnam tour (only I wouldn't have half the political issues surrounding my being there, or other people shooting at me).

I guess you could say that I'm sort of a reverse Steve Irwin...he loved to find catch and release them....I would love to find and kill them.

Salut,
Since those pythons have no natural predators to check their domination of Florida eco-sythem, you would indeed to a massive favour to the local bio-diversity by blasting them away .
So ... go for it mean-boy ...
but one word of advice, those snake-skin loafers are best left for 70's pimps from afro-american extraction ...

Yup crack on and enjoy, when are you going? I hear snake meat is quite nice and you should get enough for a burger or two off a reasonable Python and don't forget it is organic meat so good for you!
Pictures would be good at some stage.

It's going to take awhile for me to get the funding up but when I do get the chance I'm going to go at it right.
It'll be great....I'll have some 60's tunes blasting zipping along the everglades... hunting down V.C. (Viet- Constrictor)

I wouldn't have a thing to worry about....I'm not an aging 80's pop star.
