Anyone ever had

#1 Post by mag41uk »

One variation for two different calibres?
I will expand.
I have just sold my ML pistol in order to open up a slot to get a new rifle.
I was fully intent on going for 260 rem and have dies, brass, bullets etc.
Rifle is to be a Tikka T3 of some variant.
On having a browse through Gunstar I have seen a good spec rebarrelled T3 with the GRS stock I had been eyeing up anyway.
This rifle is in 6.5 x 47 Lapua. A cartridge I would be happy with.
As I have to inform police of transfer of ML pistol I was going to send off form 101 and fac to get the slot back.
Thing is can I ask for one variation to get either 260 rem or 6.5 x 47?

Thanks for replies but that poses more questions.
If I went to an rfd or even private seller with a slot for 260 would they be happy to sell me a 6.5?
And vice versa?

I know I will ask TVP about this as it would be nice to have a straight forward option to get either.

Perhaps the slot could be 260/6.5?

I have both .260/6.5mm and 6.5mm which is a little inconsistent but the .260/6.5mm slot was added much later.

.260/6,5 is fine however some FEO's are not going to give out a straight 6,5 to allow you to make your own choice as opposed to a 6,5x55 which ties you down a bit. For many people the good old days of 30 Cal or 7,62 are long gone and you need to be more specific.

The other problem would be the ammo.
The 223 and 308 examples are very well known.
However 260 and 6.5 (what ever it is) are different rounds.
I will have to get in touch and see what they say.
