Trick to a speedy transaction is to calculate the tax and declare and pay it up front as if you are going through the red channel at the airport. Tryhttp://www.dutycalculator.com

I found that declaring and not declaring seem to come to the same net cost in terms of items customs miss versus those they catch. So better to be upfront to avoid delays.
