Re: mtc scopes
I believe they have a very good reputation amongst airgunners. Airguns can and do, exert some very strange and in certain respects, more severe recoil forces than a firearm.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: mtc scopes
Not a bad range of scopes, the new Genesis is definitely an improvement on the Viper and Taipan scopes.

I have a viper which doesn't track, and never has. They might be better now, but they're not for me.

I had a Viper on my Sako Quad and it was spot on for the money. Plus it came with free mounts which just so happened to be just the right size so that i could change the barrels out on the Quad without having to remove the scope
Only down side (for me) was the size of the knobs (oo matron!), they made the gun take up a LOT of cabinet space

Re: mtc scopes
only asking as I have the same scope on my 308.first time at the range with it yesterday and nothing but bother.now Im a novice to c/f rifles and this scope .but I asked some seasoned shooters to have a go with it yesterday.and no one could get it to group shots at 100 yards. the last 3 shots were 2 hit the poi the third was low and 6-8 foot to the left.Mr_Logic wrote:I have a viper which doesn't track, and never has. so would anyone have a clue what the problem could be.
the rifle and scope are going back to the rfd so they can be checked and replaced if needed.

Re: mtc scopes
Crikey, that is quite a long way out. When I fit a new scope the first thing is bore sight it to a known target, this is basically a matter of resting it on sand bags or in a rest with the bolt out and then sighting through the open receiver down the bore, I align it as best I can to the target and then without touching the rifle look through the 'scope. I adjust the reticle until it is aligned with the centre of the target. Replace the bolt and take a couple of test shots, in theory it will be in the black. I make the final adjustments and a couple more shots and it should be where I want it. Last job is slacken the drums on the sights so they turn freely, turn them to zero and nip them up again.
Make a note of the zero distance. Job done.
If it is moving all over the place make sure everything is nipped up snugly, base, rings etc.

Re: mtc scopes
At this stage I would have probably have dropped it off the rifle and given it a shake to see if it rattled...
