Caffeine and accurate shooting ..
Does anyone here make a point of avoiding caffeine before shooting .. Or do you regard that as "a step too far" ?

No can't say I have ever noticed any difference if caffeine or not changes how accurate I shoot. Drink coffee all the time on the range.

Yes; only one mug before shooting, and not within an hour of starting.zzr1100 wrote:Does anyone here make a point of avoiding caffeine before shooting

Used to have a "brew on" and a roll up on the go when shooting out far..... Some of the old boys in the club on butts duty would take an age to pull down the frame and stick a day-glo patch in the last shot hole. Used to help pass the time a coffe and a smoke whilst waiting....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I drink coffee (strong filter) at home but never at the range, normally it is average strength black tea no sugar or bottled water when shooting, I also avoid fizzy drinks.
Re: Caffeine and accurate shooting ..
I try to avoid it just generally, but sometimes you can't avoid a norgee full of generic hot beverage.
Re: Caffeine and accurate shooting ..
I take morning tea in a German pint stein...or I wouldn't even load the car let alone shoot...plus a large flask for the range

I've never had a problem with caffeine but I do find that drinking six cans of McEwans before going to the range and the bottle of Buckfast I take with me steady my hand. tongueout
