The cost of maintaining the Lord Roberts Centre are so high that the facility HAS to let the facilities out to cover the annual upkeep. Bad planning in the beginning but too late to back out now!hitchphil wrote:NSRA - As a modern building it has none of the charisma & character of Bisley it looks awful from Kings way a huge ugly concrete wall on the right of the entrance to the site. Mind you the loos are better than most at Bisley!shugie wrote:
When you look at how good the Lord Roberts centre is in comparison with the rest
I hear the business rates on the place are crippling the NSRA? the response if less shooting & more other sporting activities to help pay for it. As a member I used to be able to rock up with 3 kids & shoot air rifle after the Queens final for £12 an hr now the they want day membership & it works out at +£30 for an hr! for air rifle & bring own pellets & targets!
Think I prefer the atmosphere & facilities of the Surrey, Old Sergeants mess, The NLRC, LMRA & a few others.
As for the NRA ranges, I do the round trip of 600 miles at least every 2 months and more if I can get the funds together. I just love shooting there.
