Section 1 SLR anybody?
I know that there is a lot of interest in SLRs here (I'd love one myself), so if anyone is interested, Ryton Arms appears to have a live-firer for £1825. (They don't just sell de-acs.)

Re: Section 1 SLR anybody?
Oh looks nothing like a L1A1 with that cr** bit of metal sticking out the right hand side, to ease extraction. Not for me would rather spend the money on a SVT40.
Re: Section 1 SLR anybody?
Oh my god....what have they done to that poor L1.....it looks Fu**ing dreadful!!! Who the hell thought that was a good idea!!
In my totally impartial judgment of course!

I agree - totally ott conversion.huntervixen wrote:Oh my god....what have they done to that poor L1.....it looks Fu**ing dreadful!!! Who the hell thought that was a good idea!!

A discreet Bradley Arms type lever would have been better.

Looks like the mod could mostly be reversible though with a new charging handle and dust cover.
Can't tell from the photo' but it looks as if the mod is attached to the bolt carrier in some way so that could be a problem.
Anyway

p.s. Like Huntervixen, I'm not biased in any way.
Re: Section 1 SLR anybody?
Not with that charging handle and not while C&G have them for £400 cheaper
Re: Section 1 SLR anybody?
Just doesn't look right does it.....! I fired one of these years ago (not in the UK) it had been converted to .45, used a grease gun mag and was silenced.......great fun !

Interesting concept, a .45 L1A1, must have been heavily modified.Jockyboy wrote:Just doesn't look right does it.....! I fired one of these years ago (not in the UK) it had been converted to .45, used a grease gun mag and was silenced.......great fun !
I think I'm right in saying that the .45 acp case diameter at the rim and base are the same as a 30.06 which make it compatible with 7.62/.308 case base dimensions so presumably bolt face mods would not be needed.
Didn't the Americans do something with the .45 and the Springfield 1903 in WW1 or am I dreaming that?
In the good old days I got to shoot a captured Argentinian FAL at the tunnel range in Devizes, never got to shoot the L1A1 though.
Cheers
