My new shotgun!

#1 Post by johngarnett »

Some help please guys?

I've just got my Mossberg 930JM Pro

May I ask for choke help please. It comes with Imp Cyl, Full and Mod chokes.

Which to be used with slug and which for shot for target SG and practical SG comps?

I've found some rather 'pretty' other chokes - any experiences please? The choke key is a c**p fit so an external tube is looking good.

Shot sizes - I read that around 7.5 or 6 is good for plates and whatever slugs you can buy. Will reload later

I may fit an optic sight later - any suggestions re scope rails please?

Dromia, I know this has been 'forumed' before but could not find it hence new, repeated question - sorry!

Thanks all,

JohnG

You know the rules, JohnG!

No pictures, no gun!!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Oh! c**p! sign01

I'll have to put it down and try to research 'sending a photo'! May be a while though!

No chance a a bit of advice 'on account' - p l e a s e?

If it helps - it's black, got two long black tubes, two big knobs and looks the dogs b******ks.

Now back to my phone and photoing!

I use a full choke/turkey choke with bird shot.
Choke for slug depends on make of slug.
I emailed S&B a couple of years back and they said that their slug will fit thru` any choke up to full.
I think its on their website in faq.

Use an Imp Cyl with my M2 for both slug and birdshot (No.6).

ditto above

I recently read that slug is made to go through any sized choke - I guess that is a fail safe in todays society.
Personally I would monitor how much lead is getting left behind, too much can not be good for the accuracy - but the target will tell you what is working best.

Should you notice your barrels getting longer I would stop using that sized choke!

OK. Sim G.

I've spent nearly an hour trying to upload a photo for you

You nearly had my dogs pics, the extension and snow pics. I give up. sign01

Go to Mossberg site and check out 930PRO JM. Better pics than I'll ever get you.

Thanks all

I just use Modified (1/2) for everything (bird, buck & slug). Occasionally i'll use Imp Cylinder (1/4) if that happens to be in the gun if i've being using it for clays. As you can tell, i'm a bit of a lazy bar steward
