RFD Renewal
Well I just had my 3 yearly RFD renewal visit.
2 worthies from the Firearms Dept checked every gun and every spare barrel that I have. Result was all ok - phew.
Seriously though, does the forum think this is a good use of the Police's (or the Civilian's) time? If I wanted to flout the law I'm sure I could do it without them ever knowing BUT having had my FAC and RFD for many years then I wouldn't dream of it.
I believe in the 80 - 20 rule ie 80% of your effort should go into resolving the worst 20% of your problems.
How say you?

Bugger that, get on with making my boolits!
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)
Re: RFD Renewal
Considering the time it takes for FAC renewals and variations around here, they are either very overworked and being very conscientious or they are totally inefficient and waste time and effort turning the simplest enquiries and changes into long drawn out affairs lasting many weeks.
One of the problems is that I think most of them would be incapable of identifying the 20% of problems they should be spending 80% of their time on.

Re: RFD Renewal
Out of idle curiosity, how many RFD's do we have on the forum, is it worth a new thread as it is always good to know if you have an RFD in you area and even better if they are a forum member.

Re: RFD Renewal
Durham are being a bit strange at the moment, took almost 3 months to get my FAC back with the same solid slug conditions on it as it had when it went in for a simple change of address.
I put a simple 1 for 1 variation in (same calibre etc. as I sold) and they were going to ring me to collect it, 10 days later they tell me it's been posted.
I wish they would use the 80/20 system, in the case of my solid slugs it was the same problem they'd previously been corrected on 3 years ago so knew exactly what was what!.

One or two I'm sure and at least 3-4 in our Club.ovenpaa wrote:Out of idle curiosity, how many RFD's do we have on the forum, is it worth a new thread as it is always good to know if you have an RFD in you area and even better if they are a forum member.
I'm also in the process of getting my RFD renewed. Two cops came and did the security check, didn't ask me to open the lockers or check any guns against the register. Ticket should be in the post fairly soon. Fingers crossed.

Well to be fair, considering Durhams FLD's recent history i would be very surprised if they weren't dotting every i and crossing every t!

Ticket arrived yesterday, just about 6 weeks with the New Scottish Police authority.
