I like my Steyr. It would have to be one of my favourite rifles. clapclap I like it's size and the way it handles. I like the kick and muzzle blast when I shoot it, but my favourite part is the en-bloc clips. When I first got it, I only had one - now I have 20! :shakeshout: Last three arrived this morning along with an original Bulgarian sling for the M95. The sling needs a little TLC, which is why it isn't the pictures, but I'm looking to fitting to the rifle when I've had time to sort it. Just need to get a bayonet to complete the package.

Next mission - get another 12 en-bloc clips for the Carcano!

Although i have a decent number of magazines (some of which from you ) i'm always looking to increase the number, will probably have to wait until everything calms down stateside first :roll: Lets just hope that if the 'high' capacity magazine doesn't filter down to things like this too!

I see no ships, er, sling

Had a sling day myself...made about 3 M96's, 2 M94's and an m/41b so far, about to crawl back upstairs and finish off a Ching Sling...then cut out a Roe Harness for a photo-shoot on Sunday morning.

Also got a stalking sling to do in black

The sling is just a bit dry and I didn't want to risk cracking the leather. Some Ko-Cho-Line would be nice but I just had to make do with the leather dressing I already had - so far, so good.

What data have you on your sling? Any makers marks, etc.? I'd be interested in more information, photographs, measurements, etc.

Still PM me, but here's some information to mull over:

It's made from two pieces of leather - one 385mm long (incl 40mm fold over for the hook) the other is 1020mm (incl 55mm fold over for the loop.

OAL is 1250mm, width is 24mm, thickness is 3mm - no makers marks or markings at all. The hook is about 45mm in length with about 25mm exposed. The piece of leather for the loop is the same thickness, 21mm wide and about 70mm long.

I have seen pictures of Bulgarian troops in WW2 and the sling looks correct. As they were the biggest user of the M95 (outside of Austria/Hungry/Czechoslovakia) I wouldn't be surprised if they also used Austrian and Czech slings when those countries were absorbed into Germany.

There was also a canvas sling*, in the same fashion as the leather one but I can't tell if that was a post war issue.

* At the moment I use an Australian Steyr sling!

Regulated by the Gibbs Co of Bristol for the Calcutta Co of India if I remember the barrel markings correctly ?
