Club Visiits to the leeds pattern rooms?
Just had this from a club member who was organising a trip to the Pattern rooms for the club, anyone know what guidance they are referring to?
" Dear Mr ,
Thank you for your email below regarding a visit to the National Firearms Centre, previously the MoD Pattern Room.
Regrettably, in accordance with NEW Home Office guidance and direction from the Police, the NFC is currently unable to host visits by Civilian Gun Club groups.
Individuals may still visit to carry out private research upon payment of a fee, currently £30.00 +VAT per hour, with
photography for non-commercial purposes charged at £30.00 + VAT per person, per visit.
Group tours of the main Museum stores are possible; you should liaise directly with Lynda Jackson (Cc’d above) for
availability and prices.

John Powney

I don't know exactly what guidance they are referring to, but I do know that unless the visit is for genuine research you will not get in. Trying to arrange for a club to have a visit just to see what they have in the pattern room is not going to get you very far.
You are best to try and arrange a visit through the HBSA and all visitors would have to be a member of the HBSA but it would still have to be for a specific reason.

Yes I know about those conditions having been a visitor to the pattern rooms on numerous occasions both as an individual and as part of club arranged trips. The club has made visits to the pattern rooms in previous years. The Armoury reply states NEW guidance, which they seem to be implementing since the last visit.

Not that I can see, I've asked the member who made the request to ask the Armouries for a copy or ik to the guidance but as yet no reply.

I am told there is information about this on the HBSA forum, accessable by full members...

£30 a visit, that's going to make my MA dissertation even more expensive than I thought
