I would be asking to speak with the FEO and ask him to explain why they are disregarding the law as laid down by act of parliment and implimenting there own laws, You can and do have the right to question there decision and the Chief Constable then has to reply within 28 days
. He does not have the right to quote home office nor if if comes to court can he use home office guidance in any way either in writing or oral , as it is only guidance and not the act of law, He would then have to explain to a judge as to why he was then puting conditions of his own which is not legal

It would be great if someone did this - but who would stick their head above the parapet?

If you're in BASC, why not get them to sort it out?

I have a really good relationship with the team up at Lincoln, they have only ever been helpful and generally very efficient.

The manager is a big supporter of shooting and the people who do it. Either her or her deputy come and do our County prize giving every year.

I have no intention of causing an issue over something that is reasonably easy to sort out, i.e I need to make up my mind what I want. I have decided to wait until next February when my renewal comes up and I'll put in for several different things and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice

This seems to be a recurring issue/question. The BASC guidance is very clear - insist on calibre, not cartirdge.

I wonder what spread of Forces that ask for cartridges over calibres is?

It seems the two most Northern Forces (Northern and Grampian) ask for calibre. Dromia is with Durham Constabulary, so that is three forces that ask for calibre.

Yep Durham address, Northumberland Police Authority. If I cross the street from my house I'm in Durham. Administrative lines on a map, 1974 reorganisation when Tyne and Wear was abolished. The North East never got over it. Durham and Northumberland will never recover from the new unitary authorities either. :(

The law requires calibre only.
I,ve had variations several times in south yorks just for a calibre. I sent one in a couple of weeks back, and asked for a 6mmAR barrel. Its come back purely as a 6mm barrel. You shouldn,t have any problems asking for it this way for target use. They all start to get a bit sniffy when its for sporting use.
