Ginger why wait for Iain's return, what's to stop you dropping Surrey police an email requesting the information you want? You will have the information you require straight from the horse's mouth.

I can do Chapuis, but its the NRA Liaison officer that believes I am incorrect and therefore I thought it would be best for one of our governing bodies to get the proper legal standing so that it can be published to there affiliated clubs.

I have the information from our club secretary who has LBRs on our club ticket for our club members to use as they HO changed the rules back in July last year I believe.

Personally I don't give a dam about LBR's are I think they are cumbersome and I would prefer a 'proper' Pistol / Revolver, but I know others do and they cannot try one out because clubs think they cannot have them on there ticket and that seems to be the NRA's point of view too. Clubs & Members pay there affiliation fees so surely the NRA can be proactive for their members and the wider shooting community.

Perhaps it will all be made clearer when the new HO guidance to police document is published shortly? Or perhaps that is wishing a bit too much.

Hi Chapuis,

Lets hope that Iain can find out the definitive as it would be nice for the NRA to be proactive for its members.

It would also be interesting to find out if compensation would now be paid should they ever be banned for whatever reason.....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Yes, but if regulations/advice/rules have changed in regards to LBRs on club tickets or even regarded the same as other S1 guns in the club environment, perhaps the "compensation" angle changed as well.....?

Hi Ginger

I am back on 16 Apr.

But do note that neither the police Firearms Licensing people, nor the Home Office, nor ACPO, make the law. The law is made by Parliament and developed in the courts. So nothing that Firearms Licensing etc say is definitive.

Do you have the written opinion from the HO that your club is working on the basis of?

Hi Iain,

thank you for the reply, I will drop you a line after the 16th. I believe my Club Secretary is writing to yourselves and also asking for our local force for a letter two. LBR's have been legal, its down to the lending etc rules which I believe are from the HO not and act Parliament.

I am sure Surrey Police will have a take on this subject.

Enjoy the rest of your Holiday.
