Manufactured in 1998 number 781 of 1000 and as yet unfired.
1998 were actually made, Mauserwerke made a good attempt to recreate the fit and finish of the originals. I have two, and I know of four more held by friends. Really good shooters.

It's a lovely rifle and no mistake. OK I'm not trying to be a killjoy here and rain on your parade but it is a reproduction of the 1898 Mauser, don't you think £1,276.60 is rather steep for a reproduction rifle? Hey just asking, like I said I'm not trying to be a killjoy. If your happy with the rifle then more power to you brother.

Aye nicely made rifles indeed. I've had couple through my hands over the years and they went for a lot less than the original buying price. Obviously they missed the market as only 1000 were made 15 years ago and they are still available new so never a big seller or greatly popular. For the price most people in the market for a G98 seemed to prefer to hang on for an original period rifle.

Still a high quality repro rifle and as it males you happy then worth every penny.

I agree, they are good looking rifles and seldom come up on the used market. I do not look on them as reproductions, more a re-release of an older model as they are clearly marked up.

Ovenpaa,
more a re-release of an older model as they are clearly marked up
Fair enough, that's a sensible way to look at it, to me it still seems rather pricey though.

I think I need to un-subscribe from this as I have just been told about one and all this talk is making me twitchy and I have always liked these rifles, plus some 8mm's arrived last week...
