Too cold to go to the shooting range

#1 Post by dodgyrog »

Our club has the morning booked at Ponteland range near Newcastle today but it is just TOO cold to go - is this a sign of me getting old?
I love my shooting but am now a fair weather shooter!
Who else is put off by the weather?
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

Poof!

I spent an hour this morning popping some cast loads through the Springfield '03.

There is no such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing.

Typical Soft Southerner

It's a nice warm and toasty +1 at Ponteland (which in Newcastle is T-Shirt and shorts weather) :good:

We're off there this afternoon with the Tyne Valley club, light layers underneath, some very weatherproof Redhead camo kit on top and a pair of 800 Gram Thinsulate™ Insulated Hunting Boots, it's almost like being in a sauna
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)

I'm down the Yarners (indoor range) - now that is cold! But no wind chill and there are heaters in the waiting area.
Soft southerner - guilty as charged!
It's funny though - I never worry about the cold when I'm out stalking deer!

I know I should be there but ---- 40-50 mph gusting winds ,chill factor -6 ,light snow uuh --no.There's enthusiasts and there's insanity .I'm too old to even think about it -- yes I'm getting soft ,or is it just careful ?

Bunch of wimps ... have just spent a week fishing. Standing in a cold river, with temperatures -6c at times, winds of up to 40 knots, snow and more ...
