6.5 Variation ?
I assume that if I put in for a 6.5mm Calibre slot I couldn't just put 6.5, I would need to specify which particular cartridge i.e 6.5x47, 6.5x55 etc

You would in Bedfordshire, the Viking has a 6.5x55 slot at the moment and it needs to be changed to a different 6.5

Re: 6.5 Variation ?
Well, you could try asking for a '6.5 Superbus Furturus'.
Good chance it will come back with approval for a '6.5mm centrefire'!
Cheers

By rights you should be just asking for a calibre not a specific cartridge,20series wrote:I assume that if I put in for a 6.5mm Calibre slot I couldn't just put 6.5, I would need to specify which particular cartridge i.e 6.5x47, 6.5x55 etc

See all Mike2's post - http://www.full-bore.co.uk/viewtopic.ph ... 6&start=10HOWEVER, to confuse the issue it has become the custom of police firearms licensing departments to interchange the term "Calibre" for "cartridge," and some have got to the point where they are refusing to allow dealers to sell .308 to people who only have 7.62 on their firearm certificates.
In effect, we now have to use the label for the cartridge (and some, like the 7.62/.308 have several different designations) in the space on the forms for "calibre" - and you can already see how confusing this has become!
I am very fortunate (it seems) and my force only asks for calibre.

I think I'm going to ring Lincoln later and ask, I fancy something new but can't make up my mind what to have.
I'll let you know what they say

Yep confirmed with Lincoln, I would need to specify which I particular flavour I wanted.

Ah, but do you know which one you fancy? I've been looking at the 6.5 Creedmoor recently.....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Creedmoor??? don't know that one, I must do some reading I guess.
I will probably end up 6.5 Grendel on the basis I'd like a nasty black rifle
