CMMG Mk4 full rifle, with .223 upper
I'll be looking to buy a complete .22 AR soon and not long after will be after a .223 upper as well, however I've not heard much on how the CMMG mk4 lower holds up to 5.56 uppers.
Can anyone offer any input here?
Thanks

Shouldn't have a problem running a 5.56mm upper on a CMMG lower.

If you re-mortgage the house and sell the kids l would consider a Lantac Raven as it only needs the upper changed out and a barrel change. If not the Raven then the CMMG that Paul does is cheaper and meets all the AR criteria.

If you have a AR15 lower receiver with a .22LR upper all that is needed to shoot 5.56mm is am upper change. If its an AR15 clone then it may not be possible, but a CMMG Multi-Calibre lower only needs the upper changing.
Re: CMMG Mk4 full rifle, with .223 upper
Indeed, the reason for going this route is that I can buy the full CMMG in .22 and then just swap out the upper for a .223 one when I need to.
I would love the Raven but right now it just won't happen (it would eat into my Remmy 700 funds) but the CMMG (through LanTac obviously) is something I can achieve and build upon.
Thanks for the reply John. I've just not heard that much from people putting a centrefire upper on the CMMG Mk4 lower. Do they use the same lower across the range does anyone know?

The Raven comes with a dedicated 22 barrel, hence the need for the change.

Re: CMMG Mk4 full rifle, with .223 upper
What? The .22LR Raven upper is a dedicated .22LR upper as is any CMMG sold as a .22LR, if you wish to calibre change a .22LR Raven to .223 then you change the upper for a .223 upper complete with .223 BCG and barrel. You could of course buy a separate .223 barrel complete with barrel extension and then also buy a .223 BCG and then take apart your .22LR upper and swap out the barrel and bolt and have a .223 upper but after doing that a couple of times you'd wish you just bought a .223 upper.

As does the cmmg .22 :roll:Zilberbak wrote:The Raven comes with a dedicated 22 barrel, hence the need for the change.
