Well given you are going to shoot target I would say NRA which means you can get down to Bisley with us, and there may even be a cheap membership thing going for the first year ;)

I agree with Ovenpaa, especially if you can get to Bisley on a regular basis. The further north you get the less relevant it becomes IMHO.

I was sad that the shooting organisations were not able to get together last year. As I have not read anything recently I am guessing that it has fizzled out.

I have great respect for the BASC and really appreciate the work they do in respect to the more political side of shooting. Unfortunately these days I can not afford to pay for membership to the NRA and the BASC, so as a target shooter who lives next to Bisley, the NRA gets my money - at the moment,

Although I am a member of the NRA, I believe that BASC do more for the shooter (I am also a member of that organisation).
The NRA ought to move away from Bisley and focus on country wide shooters' needs (I agree with Dromia on that one).
The NRA really have lost touch with their clientelle - when did you last see Glyn Alger get out and about mixing with the rank and file? I bet he cannot be bothered to go to Newark. I didn't even see him at Bisley during the Trafalgar meeting.

I'm a member of the NRA only because i have to be. I resent every single penny they get from me.

I remember during the push for the pistol ban, the pathetic old farts stating that pistols did not have a place in the NRA, nor should they be supported. Essentially the same statements they made during the semi-auto ban. A bunch of gutless old women who are only interested in themselves and will do absolutely nothing to protect our sport.

What would moving away from Bisley achieve? They would then have little or no contact whatsoever with their clientelle. I don't often see Glyn about, but I do often encounter the Chairman, Vice Chairmen and most other staff about the ranges and camp, and that allows feeback and representations to be made. Move them to a non-shooting location and all contact would be electronic or phone for the majority of people.

I'm with BASC because I hunt and I always get immediate first class support and information when ever I ask.

It would divorce them from their comfort zone - no hiding place. They would be forced to consider other areas than the Home Counties. Our representation in the North East is a pathetic excuse, never gets around the clubs, bit like Glyn Alger.
What do they actually do for the regions? Have thay actually bought any of ranges they were talking about?
It's nice you can use the facility run by the sales Company (the NSC), but what has that got to do with the political campaigning the NRA are purported to do? They should get away from Bisley - if they want to shoot - do it in their own time. The representation the Chairman et al get is skewed and not representative of the average shooter. There is a LOT of bad feeling towards the NRA and they desperately need to overcome this.
Glyn Alger was full of good ideas on getting his position but has become a damp squib, who nobbled him I wonder? The good old boys around Bisley?
Saying that, I do love going there, but good God it's an anachronism.
How many members does the NRA have? 5000'ish. How many shooters in the country? The answer says it all.
