Doubt if ordinary plods would recognise expanding ammo...no offence Sim G.
Albeit about 30 years when the Police did the FAC inspections...a very nice plod took me one side and asked me to explain what was it that distinguished a rifle from a shotgun. I explained.
We currently have an FEO in SWP that allegedly did not understand s58.
:)
Any opinions on this.

I suspect a lot of people do not fully understand S58 Firearms, I seem to remember a well known dealer falling foul of this a couple of years ago, plus the list of S58 calibres is not definitive as such.Robin128 wrote:We currently have an FEO in SWP that allegedly did not understand s58.

Allegedly this FEO was asked by a respectable RFD to take one off s1 and hold under s58 since he no longer wished to shoot it...nothing wrong with that by my understanding, since it was an obsolete calibre/antique, s58 (2) refers, I believe.

Reading the article the inferred message is the police will no longer check to see what we are doing with our hand guns.
Forget the police for a minute, when we have tabloids like this sensationalising at every opportunity what chance do legitimate shooters have to put a case forward for gun ownership? :(
Re: Any opinions on this.
Yes, you are right, Ovenpaa...assuming your question is rhetorical.
And what chance they reconsider handgun/SLR ban after they have lost touch with legal shooters?
The Home Office has got this wrong and I think BASC should consider this stupid move by some Forces...because next time someone snaps there will be an ill informed and out of date knee jerk reaction. Just imagine if bird had used a sniper...sorry, long range rifle?
