It is not a magic bullet you know - there are always ways in. You think because a gun is locked up it is impregnable?

Why not fix the desire to kill - that's the root cause.

Note - I am in favour of measures to secure firearms, but they are not foolproof.

I've said this several times - Personally I think that key-pad safes (as opposed to a physical key that can be found) would be effective in homes where not everyone is authorised to use the guns...apart from cost, I can't see why not...

...and where possible self defense is a genuine issue, then why not leave the weapon with a loaded mag in it (talking USA here)...how long does it take to type 1,2,3,4,5,6......

What's the big deal, a .22 semi auto was used by a Vietnam Vet to shoot dead a burglar who crashed theough his door...

And don't call it an ASSAULT RIFLE when clearly it was NOT, it looks like is irrelevant execpt to the rabid extreme left dictators and professional victims..!

This kid had (once again) mental issues, was a paedophole (12 year old girlfriend), spent time playing gory computer games,came from a religious family, broke the law by killing someone etc etc.

Maybe time they started locking the loonies away somewhere once again - "care in the community" is not worth a toss either in the USA or here.!

Oh and YES I DO think some safety would work, but not those silly wee Brattonsound cabinets (they're not SAFES) used in the UK that can be hacked opn with a Stihl saw but a DECENT safe like a Fort Knox. Make them MANDATORY, no way will anyone break into those in a hurry!

OK they're not cheap (ours was $3000 after discount) but then again what price safety.
