I reckon there's only going to be one bloke affected by this...... he who holds the certificates to which these guns pertain.
That's as long as the dodgy characters that stole them are of sound mind and don't do any thing stupid with them. Hope fully they are not looking to sell stuff to fund a habit for instance they could end up any were.
Fancy leaving them in a car unattended anyway ! Perhaps if they made an example of the owner then people would think twice, I wouldn't leave mine for even 2 seconds.

What are you going to do when you need fuel on the way to or from shooting?
That would take more than 2 seconds. Where do you leave your guns when yo go to the range office at bisley? Or lunch at bisley?
Hmmm either the car was parked and armed for a long time and it was a target of opertunity or...someone had been stalking said owner for a while, all they'd have to do is stake out local shooting clubs and wait for the right moment to strike. If the former...then we have a very incompetant owner...or even more worryingly there are criminals actively targeting owners.
So did he just have them thrown in the boot, or were they secured to the car as recommended? Did he have the rifle bolts with him, or did the thieves get complete rifles?
You never seem to get the whole story in these news reports...............
What precautions do other forum members take when transporting firearms by car and attending places like Bisley?
Precautions I try to implement / maintain
1. Ammo in black carry bag (or 2) not easily seen - placed in front footwell away from stuff in back.
2. Bolt and FAC in the Jacket I would wear anytime I leave the car.
3. Rifle in AIM drag bag - but that and most other stuff in back is covered by open shooting mat and loose jackets
4. If I am not at the car it is locked - key in pocket
A good friend "lost" a March Scope out the back of his van - he was 5 metres away shooting
My goal is simple
- avoid risk of obvious "item" being seen
- limit opportunity to gain access to car
- separate firearm / ammo / bolt / FAC at all times.
Alot of clubs at Bisley have lockers and these are very handy.
Take 5 minutes longer to pack the car but worth it.
