Far seeing: a question on sheepminders' optics

#1 Post by meles meles »

Well oomans, we have a nice selection of German glass atop most of our rifles - Pecar and Kapps mainly with a couple of Lisenfelds - but we have just read about some American telecopic* sights from Shepherd ( http://www.shepherdscopes.com ) with a rather impressive rangefinding capability. Any of you used them and have an opinion on their performance?

I have seen them advertised but not seen one over here. I do wonder how the glass is going to compare to your SA KAPPS...

I heard of them several years ago.
I have never seen one, nor know of anyone that has seen or owned one either.

They seem ideal in concept, so if the quality of the glass was up to scratch.

Hmm, maybe 'up to scratch' wasn't the right phrase....

Saw one a few years ago on a guy in the club's rifle. Concept appeared to work well. From what I remember a nice scope, but too long ago to really comment on the quality of the glass.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Stear clear. Bought one about 3-4yrs ago and regretted it almost immediately. I stupidly believed the hype and review in a US magazineand got the brother-in-law to bring one over whilst he was flying long haul.
