Are you using Hotmail? - PLEASE READ

#1 Post by Christel »

One of our members has just very kindly pointed out to me that there is a problem with Hotmail and the notifications users are signing up for.

So if you are using Hotmail as your contact email for PMs and new posts in threads you are watching you are very likely not getting the email.

This is the message we are getting:
Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list
Best fix is to change your email, we have in the past tried to get the big email providers to unblock us and it works...for a few weeks.

I have now banned hotmail, it is not possible to register with a Hotmail account anymore.

I registered using a Hotmail address and I receive notifications just fine. Glad I got in there before you banned it.

I've had my hotmail account for over 7 years and I'm not sure I would have set up an entirely new email address with another provider, just to access a forum. You might be missing out on new users by blocking it totally, which would be a shame.

Not sure why you get the notifications when I have Hotmail delivery errors coming in to our mail account, about 10-12 a day.

Glad you do though, less for me to delete :)

The wonders of technology. :good:

I'm using a hotmail.co.uk address rather than .com, not sure if that makes a difference or not?

I have used hotmail for years and I have never had a problem and it is hotmail.com so I suppose I wont recieve any notifications any more.
I certainly would not sign up to a forum that would not accept a hotmail address are you sure its wise to ban it.

I have chosen to ban Hotmail.com because the notifications people are signing up for on this forum are being rejected by Hotmail which means my inbox is filling up on a daily basis with delivery errors.

I can't influence that, I have tried in the past and as stated in my previous post it works for about 3 weeks, then we are back on the ban list.

Hotmail is not the only one doing that, there are others I have banned over the past two years.

I know there are other UK shooting forums where they are not allowing gmail, hotmail, aol and so on when new users are signing up.

I have never come across one. I use hotmail.com to access all the forums I visit.
Not to worry like I said I havent had a problem.
