Hi thereTower.75 wrote:A spent case will always be tighter to chamber, as it's fire-formed to your chamber. That's a point, what ammunition is it? Factory, or homeloads, and if they're homeloads are they fully-sized cases?MartinS wrote:Right!
No .303 in sight Mr D! Hehe!
Just had a good look and giving it a good clean, the very small bits of brass look like its being due to the claw on the bolt! I also cleaned the barrel with boiling hot water and also wire brushed inside the receiver so it's super clean!
I tried a spent round and still tight to close the bolt but as I release the bolt and pull it from the chamber but them chamber it again it goes in as sweet as a nut!!
I will get the headspace checked again though.
My Gew98's ejector likes to scratch my cases upon being kicked out of the action, is that what you mean by the "claw on the bolt", or is the extractor somehow shaving metal off of the cases?
The ammo I used is PPU prvi. I'm pretty sure it is the extractor which is chewing them a tad!
I was loading them one at a time instead of using the mag so I'll try using the mag on the zero range at Bisley to see if they chamber better. Worth a try and at the same time I'll get headspace checked.
