Yes, I was at the club to day and as the chairman I stopped the shooting so that all there could observe the Remembrance day two minute silence.

Re: 2 mins silence ..
In November our club holds a range maintenance day instead of shooting. It's usually around the 11th but if it co-incides exactly there is a pause at 11am.
For the first time in years illness forced me to watch it on the telly instead of attending in person. The parade looked like it's much bigger than I remember. It's good that we are remembering and the tradition is maintained, not good because there are more people to remember each year.

The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

Re: 2 mins silence ..
It's noticeable that attendance at all remembrance ceremonies is growing each year, and that the largest increase is amongst young people. A few years ago attendance was dwindling as the veterans of the two world wars passed on and the younger generation saw no link between those conflicts and themselves. Now many young people know someone who has fallen in Iraq or Afghanistan and realise the sacrifices made by many of countless generations for the sake of us all.

Re: 2 mins silence ..
I was shooting today and we all stopped for a little while at 11.00am
However,i dont think the 2 minutes silence should be enforced if someone dont want to.It is their choice afterall.

Have always observed it as long as I can remember, even whilst shooting. As a note I had teacher at secondary school once who insisted on continuing to talk even though a group of us requested that we had the silence, she was thoroughly p*** off
Re: 2 mins silence ..
I was at our local range this morning (just got back) and I was the only person there. At 11AM local time I stopped what I was doing and sat down for a few minutes and thought back. Have to say it brought a bit of a lump to my throat.

Wether I'm on the hill in Scotland after deer or up to my neck in the guts of a broken down crane I always take two minutes to reflect on the sacrifices made past and present on the 11 hour .....

Re: 2 mins silence ..
The two minutes was observed at the ice rink during club training for my son, which was good to see.
