Choosing another LBR

I've just come back from a week of shooting with the Four Islands guys in Kentucky and it's got me to thinking about a new purchase. I'm toying with the idea of freeing up some space by replacing my Rossi Puma .38/.357, which I don't shoot much, with another LBR. Problem is I can't decide which and keep changing my mind.

The three guns I liked most that I shot last week were the Barrett .50, a full auto M16 (original spec minus all the nasty bling), and, perhaps surprisingly in comparison, a Ruger single six in .22lr. Now the first is considerably outside my budget and the second and third are illegal over here. However, I wonder what would get me closest to the experience of gate-loading, single handed thumbing back the single six and shooting Cowboy style. As I already have a Taurus .38 and a Browning Buckmark, I'm torn between going for a Buntline and getting it chopped and a rod added or another Taurus but in 22lr this time. The price of the .22lr ammo is certainly very appealing and hence why it's not a shoe-in for the Buntline.

I did a little Googling and found out that Alfa make a .22 as well. Does anyone have any experience or opinion of these? I've heard that the .357 isn't great but maybe it's better in .22lr? Of course, what I really want is the Buntline in .22lr with a chopped barrel and a rod but I don't think such a thing exists. Does anyone know otherwise?

I'm starting to ramble a little now, I'm jetlagged, but I'd welcome any thoughts and recommendations you might have.

It was a lot of fun even if I did get slightly shot at one point. :-)

I think I'd rather go the cartridge route although I have also given some thought to going for a Remington .44 with triple 7. I have one last shoot with the lever action in December then I'm going to move it on and go for a one for one. That gives me a little while to make up my mind but it just means more dithering.

Got clipped by a 9mm that bounced off a rock at the bottom of the range. Just a flesh wound. :-)

I've got a chopped Uberti buntline and a Taurus .22......

Taurus is great fun and cheap to feed without a doubt. I changed the rod and added some Hogue grips wchich improves handling.

You want single action and gate loading? Got to get one of these! I really enjoy shooting mine.

Who did you get to change the rod, Sim? Mine still has the coat hanger.
