Machining 8 Bore brass catridges

I need to build some brass cartridges for an 8 bore/gauge. Does anyone know where I can get drawings for such things or alternatively a sample case to grab some dimensions from?

Also as I am building them does anyone else have a need for such things?

Thanks Meaty, that is a good start and at least I know what size the blank will be, now I need to find out what sort of case thickness is used on such a thing and look at the web design.

As for machining - is that the right way? It will take a lot of material and potentially be wasteful and I thought that they were drawn or pressed.

Just thinking aloud: Could you just machine the base and find a suitable plastic or brass tube for the body? The body only really serves to keep everything together - would thin wall brass tube do it? You might need to skim the outside and rebate the end to fit a cap.

I have a copy of Cartridges of the World 12th Edition. The small section on 8 guage does not give any dimentions other than bore, 0.835"

Have a look at your PAULA. There is a 8x85 and a 8x100..

Robert, mine has the 8/82 (CIP 90-06-13) listed which looks like a good starting point. It also lists the 8/100 (CIP 90-06-13) which is totally wrong dimensionally. next thing is to determine the wall thickness, I have the primer and flash hole dimensions to hand so I am nearing finalising the drawing.

theres an old boy in kent who makes them to order. a mate gets him to make them for his old tolley 8 bore. the shells consist of a thin brass base around which a cardboard case is bonded. he offers reduced rates if you return the brass bases.
i'll ask my mate for his details if you wish but anyone in Kent Wildfowlers should know him. i think he also does the pre-packaged shells for a couple of punt guns.
