Buffalo River gun cabinets
I want to add another 10 gun cabinet and was thinking of the Buffalo River over the Brattonsound as it is slightly wider and fits the space I have in mind. Has anyone any experience of the Buffalo River brand versus Brattonsound and any opinions on them? Also does the shelf come out easily? I do need the height for some of the rifles to go in it and cannot find any dimensions for the shelf and small lockable box inside.
Re: Buffalo River gun cabinets
ive got a couple of the large ones dave , they are reasonbly priced for what they are and to be honest very nice cabinets
it may sound strange but try john bidwells shootig ground they are agents and really competitive price wise but allow for a wait in delivery

hi ovenpaa,
it's not a problem to remove the shelf/locking box, you do have to knock off the screw studs that are welded to the case, but they come off easily. i think its a very good safe, but as with all of them if you buy a 12 gun safe, don't expect to get 12 guns in them! especially if you have scopes on.

Thanks for confirming the shelf and box can be removed. I have been using Brattonsound to date and we just need more storage space. I am hoping I can fit 7 rifles into the 10 gun Buffalo River which will be a great help as least short term, the downside is they do not do a reasonable sized ammunition cabinet so I will have to order the BS bulk storage system.
Mark - thanks for the tip, I already have a trade account with someone else who can get it here in 48 hours.

I would guess that it is impractical/impossible to get Buffalo River to make a special without the shelf & box!
Being Chinese made, I would wonder about the quality of the locks fitted and if they could be changed if required.

We opted for a couple of Brattonsound's in the end as we have them already, they close with a reassuring clunk and they do a 1500,0mm high job without a locker in the top. Plus they do a very nice large ammunition cabinet.

Did you ask for them to be keyed alike?ovenpaa wrote:We opted for a couple of Brattonsound's in the end as we have them already, they close with a reassuring clunk and they do a 1500,0mm high job without a locker in the top. Plus they do a very nice large ammunition cabinet.

Absolutely not, We have quite a few cabinets and safes here and every single one is different.

If someone finds your hidden keys then it will not matter if there are 1 or 10 they will have access to all safes. Having less means it it easier to hide them. I can understand having a different key for the ammunition safe and it being located elsewhere but not for having all gin safes different unless you hide the keys in all different places.
Is there some logical reason that I have missed?

No reason other than I prefer it this way.
