On another tack, I have just last week sold my .44 Italian 1858 Rem - I've had this pistol for 35 years and used it regularly in competition in the early years and pleased to say - never had a misfire during a competition and could probably count on one hand the misfires since then.
I believe the reason for this was that, almost from the start, I changed the nipples to take the bigger F4 #26 Joyce caps - I sold the pistol with the original nipples, the larger nipples and my remaining stock of 26 caps. These F4 26 caps have always been scarce and to be honest not seen any for a good few years.
